The Voyager With Johannes Huebl
For our new series The Voyager, we talk to global tastemakers about their travel plans for the coming year. Last week we sat down with Johannes Huebl, Model and traveler.
The Place I Can't-Wait to Travel to in 2022:
Japan. I usually fly to Japan every year but now have not been since 2019 and can’t wait to go back. But I’m eager to fly to the Maldives or Asia-Pacific and test one of these beautiful new resorts as well.
The Destination that Impressed Me Most in 2021:
Fasano in Puglia. Stayed at the Borgo Egnazio hotel and had the best time in this still relatively undiscovered region. Had the best local Italian dishes.
The One Thing I Never Fail to Do/See in a New Destination?
The museums. I always research where I am going and prepare for downtime at the destination. I mostly travel for work so I don’t always have the chance for extensive visits but I do go exploring immediately after arrival. If it’s a beach destination, I’m the first in the ocean.
The One Item I Take on All My Travels:
Camera
My Secret for an Airline Upgrade:
Collecting miles on the trips before
Sustainable Travel Means to Me:
Using train over the plane, electric car rental over gas, staying at eco-resorts, paying the carbon offset
My Favourite Restaurant in the World:
Uff that’s difficult. I have to say I love the Bulgari restaurant in Ginza. But Eleven Madison Park comes pretty close as well.
The Best Wine I Had During Lockdown:
Probably a crisp glass of Meursault burgundy
My Favourite Travel App:
Trivago - Sixt - I always get excited when not booking directly with the Hotels or PR departments to see if I end up staying somewhere new or different. Sixt gets me every car I need, everywhere.
My Perfect Sunday at Home:
- Breakfast
- Gym or exercise
- Lunch with friends
- Sunday movies or cinema
