From wellness retreats in the Dolomites to the peaks of haute cuisine in the French Alps, these stylish stays should be on your bucket list for this winter. Whether you’re looking for privacy with your partner, planning a spa break with friends, or booking a family ski break, these five destinations guarantee snow from December to March, authentic cuisine and lots of winter fun.
Dolomites, Italy
The Italian Dolomites, just two hour north of Venice and two hours south of Innsbruck, is home to Italy’s finest cuisine and paradise of winter sports. Fashionable Cortina, the ‘Queen of the Dolomites’ offers plenty of scope for skiers of all grades with miles of carefully maintained pistes.
Where to Stay:
San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge is a rustic 16th-century chalet that owes its charm to the perfect combination of rural traditions and the aesthetic aspirations of its former aristocratic landlords.
Best-for: The Lodge is a SPA heaven offering a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath with chromotherapy, panoramic whirlpool with magnificent surround views, outdoor lounge, and recreation area.
How to Get There:
Fly into Innsbruck (100 Km) -Stefano, the owner, will personally pick you up from the airport.
Lech am Arlberg, Austrian Alps
Lech, my favorite of all winter destinations, is one of the world’s best-known ski regions. Yet it has kept the charm of a classical winter sports resort. Although Lech keeps pace with the growing demands of its friends, it still knows how to preserve the charm of its original character.
Where to Stay:
Boutique Hotel Schmelzhof offers stylish interiors, a great host Robert and the most beautiful terrace of Lech
Best-for: If you are a good skier start your day in Oberlech, over the 'Rüfikopf' you reach Zürs, head back to Lech via the 'Madloch' for lunch at Rud-Alpe (try the Kaiserschmarrn!) and get some tan at the Burg's terrace in Oberlech
How to Get There:
Nearest airports are Zurich, well served from across europe (2h drive) or Innsbruck (1h)
Zermatt, Swiss Alps
In the glamorous Swiss ski resort of Zermatt, it's all about the mountains, whether you’re climbing them, skiing down them or simply gazing at them. The majestic Matterhorn, Europe's most recognizable peak is the centerpiece of life in this car-free village.

Rougemont, Swiss Alps
A classy, stylish place and one of the most beautiful and authentic mountain villages in Switzerland, Rougemont is only 10 minutes from the iconic Gstaad.

How to Get There
Geneva Airport is a two-hour drive.
Megève, French Alps
Megève has a rich history, excellent cuisine, and stylish hotels. Back in the early 1900s, the Rothschild family made Megève a fashionable ski resort. Even Brigitte Bardot came to Megève in 1959 to spend her second honeymoon with Jacques Charrier. Now, decades later the picturesque village in the mountains of Savoie is still one of the classiest places to ski with great restaurants, lovely bars, and cozy hotels.
Where to Stay
Hôtel Mônt-Blanc
Situated in the heart of the village, the hotel's reputation has steadily grown since the fifties, when Megève was at the height of its glory. It was a time of luxury partying and prestigious dinners. Therefore it was a logical choice to decorate their rooms and suites in vintage style, brilliantly reinterpreted to pay tribute to some of the artists to which the hotel owes its fame. Each room is different, unique and yet they all play a part in creating the Hotel Mônt Blanc's new style which is chic, artistic, and couture.
Best-for: Visit in December for the Authentic Christmas Market
