Inside The Smartest Ski Hotel In The Rocky Mountains
Introducing Gwyneth Paltrow’s Favourite Ski Retreat: The stunning Caldera House in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
The Intimate, One-of-a-Kind Hotel Introduces Entirely Unique Hospitality Experience to the Remarkable Destination Jackson Hole, home to some of America’s most spectacular terrain, now boasts a luxury hospitality offering unlike anywhere else in the region.
Caldera House is an eight-suite luxury hotel and members-only alpine club located at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Travelers from around the world are treated to an immersive local experience that delivers unmatched convenience, exceptional service, and exclusive adventures--all in the stunning natural setting Wyoming provides.
Imagined by owner Wesley Edens, Caldera House is an intimate, world-class retreat with the rugged spirit of the American West. Wesley enlisted the help of friends and co-owners Michael Novogratz, David Barry, and Randal Nardone to create an unmistakably luxurious property that celebrates both the destination itself and the local legends that inspire it. Since the project began in 2012, over $100 million has been invested in Caldera House’s design, build, and infrastructure. “We deliberately tried to provide not just a great place to stay but a world-class restaurant, lounge, bar, and retail experience--all available without stepping foot outside of the building,” says Edens.
The impressive property boasts four 5,000-square foot four-bedroom suites and four 1,500- square foot two-bedroom suites. A distinct restaurant and café, a private bar, lounge, locker room, ski valet, and ski shop, all on-site, translate to a one-stop oasis for its guests.
The hotel’s interiors are the work of two award-winning design firms: L.A.-based Commune, tasked with designing the public spaces and a selection of suites, and local studio CLB, who lent their vision to the remaining suites. Together, the two firms cultivated a warm aesthetic that blends European style with American craftsmanship, creating a positively modern chalet.
Caldera House’s larger suites are contemporary in design, enhanced by a collection of custombuilt furniture and carefully chosen accent pieces. The suites offer spacious living rooms with wood-burning fireplaces, chef’s kitchen, floor-to-ceiling windows, mudroom, laundry room, and private outdoor balconies outfitted with Solus fire pits, gas grills, and snowmelt patios for yearround use. The master bedrooms feature custom-built furniture, exterior patios with private hot tubs, and scenic mountain views. The master bathrooms are luxuriously equipped with heated floors, steam showers, and large soaking tubs. Every comfort has been considered. Each of Caldera House’s two-bedroom suites offer an airy, updated take on the classic cabin.
A collection of Americana and local art add nostalgic flair to rooms filled with European furnishings and custom oak millwork. These generously sized suites also feature a chef’s kitchen, gas fireplaces, and private balconies with snowmelt exterior patios, where guests can soak in mountain views all year round.
Caldera House, located walking distance from the tram and just a few minutes’ drive to Grand Teton National Park, offers both ski-in, ski-out convenience and access to Jackson Hole’s breathtaking scenery. “Jackson Hole is entirely about the experiences that happen outside the four walls where you stay,” notes owner Wesley Edens.
Guests benefit from a dedicated concierge who provides personalized service and a point of contact leading up to and during their stay. The concierge’s expertise extends beyond the hotel walls, helping guests take advantage of Jackson Hole’s most unforgettable activities. From wildlife safaris through Yellowstone National Park in summer to backcountry heli-skiing in winter, Caldera House helps guests plan and book a wide range of signature experiences tailored to their interests. Guests can also enjoy complimentary breakfast, access to the member’s lounge, custom boot-fitting and ski-tuning, demos at the on-site ski shop, access to a ski-valet, and pick-up and drop-off from the airport in the winter.
