How To Spend The Perfect Weekend In Mexico City

Morning Coffee

Niddo Café: They have two locations, one in Juarez and one in Polanco—a great spot for coffee and pastries with good vibes.

What to See

Anthropology Museum: It has the most amazing pre-Hispanic collection and shouldn’t be missed.

Casa Luis Barragan: Modernist architect Luis Barragan’s house and studio. Very inspiring. The use of light and color throughout the house is sublime. (Tickets must be booked in advance)

Now to Lunch

Contramar is a staple. The ambiance is vibrant with a mix of locals and foreigners that make it a must in the city. (tip: if you can’t get a table head over to Entremar the sister restaurant with the same menu but in a different neighborhood).

I also love Havre 77, housed in a beautiful old mansion with arguably the most beautiful dining space in the city. The food is classic French and they make the best burger in the city.

Don’t Miss

Xinú Perfumes newly opened shop on Marsella Street with its wooden pavilion and beautiful garden.

What about Dinner:

I love going to Hugo Wine Bar, they have incredible natural wines and classic cocktails, the radicchio salad is not to be missed and the steak tartare (open for dinner on Sunday night).

Maximo by chef Eduardo García for the ultimate dinner with their farm-to-table approach with a daily changing menu and a stunning high-ceiling dining space.

For a Nightcap (and maybe a small bite)

Ticuchi: Enrique Olvera’s mezcal bar, plays great music and has a fun atmosphere.

Where I Tell My Friends to Stay

Casa Polanco: A beautifully renovated Spanish-style mansion with 19 rooms. It opened last year and it’s the most unique and personalized stay. The rooms are super comfortable and spacious. My favorite feature is the honesty bar in the living room, with a great selection of tequila and mezcal. The location is great for walking, quiet, and very close to a lot of the museums in the city.
