Facilities

  • With just 12 rooms, Hotel Valrose has an intimate, authentic Swiss chalet feel. All rooms have been renovated to the highest standard. Traditional fir wood, paired with granite accents and fine fabrics, creates a haven of warmth and stylish intimacy in each of our spacious, sunlit rooms.

Wine & Dine

  • The hotel is home to a gourmet French restaurant, Le Table du Valrose, run by your hosts for your stay, Chef Benoît Carcenat, Meilleur ouvrier de France 2015, and his wife Sabine, who is originally from the Pays-d’Enhaut. As well as this gastronomic mountain experience (5, 7 or 9 courses) inspired by the seasons, you can also book in for a fondue or its famous cheese doughnuts at the hotel’s cafe. In the afternoon, we love to make the most of the Lounge bar, with tea and a treat from the pastry cart.

Dresscode

  • Chalet-style.

Local Guide

Worth Getting out of Bed For

  • Le Valrose is beautifully positioned at the gateway to the Gstaad ski area, while there are also cross-country trails — such as the Boucle du Château de Rougemont — and snowshoeing in winter. Come summer, you can explore the Gruyere Pays-d’Enhaut Regional Nature Park, either on foot or in a hot air balloon — just hop on La Videmanette gondola to get you started.

Summer Activities

  • In the summer you have a lot of activities in the area from hiking, climbing, mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding, and much more.
  • Hiking trails start right in front of your door.
  • Swim in the glass-like turquoise lakes. The beautiful Lake Arnensee is a short drive and offers hiking, swimming, and a restaurant.

Winter Activities

  • Start your day on the slopes, the Videmanette lift is a 1-minute drive and connected to the Gstaad Eggli resort. Skiing on the Wasserngrat is the most challenging in the area because of the infamous Tiger Run.
  • You can find cross-country tracks and winter hikes just opposite the hotel.

Where to Eat, Play, and What to See

When to Go

  • The best skiing months are from December until March. The region is as beautiful during summer when several events take place and you can swim in the crystal clear mountain lakes and go on beautiful hikes. Some of our favorite months are September & October when temperatures are still very mild.

How to Get There

  • By air: Fly either to Geneva ( 1.45 hours), or Zurich, which is a little over 2 hours away. The Gstaad Saanen airport for private jets is a 10-minute drive.
  • By train: Take the state-of-the-art Golden Pass railway: it's the most beautiful smooth ride with magnificent panoramic views of the lake, mountains, and wilderness. If you're lucky you'll catch the Belle-Epoque carriages with all the vintage style of the Orient Express. Rougemont train station is just opposite the hotel.
