Hotel Endsleigh
Formerly an 18th century hunting lodge, and the home of the 6th Earl of Bedford and his wife the Duchess of Bedford, Georgina Russel, Endsleigh Hotel is set within 100 acres in the Tamar Valley and is a peaceful little snippet of enchanting English countryside. Brought back to life by hotelier Olga Polizzi – who also owns Tresanton Hotel in St Mawes – its surrounded by woodlands and formal gardens created by Humphry Repton in the 19th century, which are Grade 1 listed, while there's also an arboretum, follies, a waterfall, rockeries and a croquet lawn.

Don't Miss
- If you need an adrenaline fix there are all sorts of country sports available nearby. 4×4 driving, clay pigeon shooting, archery, and canoeing are all very popular as well as tree-surfing for those with a head for heights. About 45 mins away is Adrenaline Quarry which has (among other things) the longest zip wire in Britain.
How to Get There
- Hotel Endsleigh is a three-and-a-half hour drive from London or two hours by train to Exeter St Davids station. If you are coming by train to Exeter the hotel can (with prior notice) organize a taxi to collect you for the drive to the hotel which will take approximately one hour.
