Facilities

  • With 29 rooms—13 in the historic villa and 16 in the so-called ‘Waldhaus’—each designed with natural materials and a sophisticated color palette, the Blyb. is the epitome of “small yet refined.” Historical elements like original floors and ceiling paintings, discovered during the renovation, were carefully integrated into the rooms. Room sizes range, respecting the original building dimensions, from 14 to 40 square meters.

What's the Story

  • In 1892, a villa was built on this property, and the garden park was created under the name "Lindenfycht." Just as the villa forms the heart of the hotel, the original name also inspired the new one, "Blyb.," which echoes the history and is pronounced like the German word "bleib," meaning “stay.” This expresses exactly what Blyb. wants to represent: a place to linger, for hotel guests as well as locals from the Tegernsee Valley. A place where people enjoy staying, open to visitors and day-trippers from Munich, while also intentionally inviting residents of Gmund and the entire Tegernsee Valley. This philosophy was at the forefront for restaurateurs and entrepreneurs Florian Zibert, Moritz Meyn, Wolfgang Hingerl, and Maximilian Rampf when they first visited the property in 2022, which is owned by the Free State of Bavaria and had previously only been leased for non-public use.
  • Over six months, the Blyb. creators worked with local artisans and architects Veronika Weiss and Marie Eham to renovate both buildings on the property using sustainable materials and modern, site-appropriate interior design. They also made thoughtful additions to the historical building structures: a so-called “Backhaus” of wood and glass, equipped with a pizza oven and available as an event space for up to 30 guests; a small “Residence” for authors and artists; a sauna house; and a wooden deck overlooking the lake for yoga and sunbathing.

Wine & Dine

  • In the Blyb. restaurant, day café, and bar adjacent to the library, the culinary expertise of the “Team Mural” is on full display. Known for two Michelin-starred and Green Michelin Star establishments as well as Bar Mural and Bambule! Bar in Munich, this team, led by chef Jacques Thull, brings a fresh, modern touch to seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, creating dishes that are always light and balanced. Casual (fine) dining is crafted for both locals and hotel guests.

Worth Getting Out of Bed for

  • Various art and music experiences, lectures, discussions, relaxation in the park, yoga on the wooden deck, or a game of bocce behind the house are available to hotel guests as well as all visitors.

Sustainability

  • “We value our resources and the daily efforts of our team. We prioritize sustainable materials, regional products, and strong collaboration with partners and the people from the region“, says Zibert.
